iPad Caricature Tutorials

Many of mt friends and colleagues have been asking about the my process with "live caricatures" on the iPad. It was suggested that I make a few tutorials detailing some of the basics behind drawing iPad caricatures. Well, here they are! I hope that these can be of help to anyone looking to get into iPad caricatures.

iPad Caricatures

I've been cranking out a ton of caricatures for friends over the past two weeks and I wanted to show off a few of them. These were all completed in an app called ArtStudio. I would highly recommend this app above all other drawing apps due to the easy to use interface. Enjoy!

Think Iconic

Creating an icon for an event, especially one featuring a movie as celebrated as The Big Lebowski can be a daunting task. I decided to create a bowling pin pattern with a hand-drawn, but graphic image of The Dude overlapping the pins. I might play around with different color combinations, but I like what I have so far.

DudeFest Poster

This is the poster that I designed for a local Big Lebowski event called, "DudeFest". I'm a huge fan of the film and I wanted to capture as many elements from the movie as I could. One day, I'll design a SUPER POSTER with all of the characters in it!

I've been hearing a ton of chatter about a live action Akira movie lately. I decided to take a stab at the influential property's tragic villain, Tetsuo. So here he is!

Invincible Re-Design

This is my submission for an Invincible costume re-design contest. It was a task to keep the look simple and iconic, so any Invincible fan will recognize it immediately. I hope that I did the character justice!

Recent Caricatures of Friends

Every now and then I feel inclined to draw my Facebook friends free of charge as a way of "staying fresh" and also to show my appreciation for their friendship. Here are a few of my more recent drawings.

I created this iconic image of Sloth to help me brand my artwork. This image will be printed onto stickers and posted all over Seattle to promote my website.

HULKAMANIA is runnin' wild!!!

It's been a very busy few months for yours truly. I've been in contact with Hulk Hogan over the past 2 months in regards to t-shirt designs, and everything is finally "good to go" with the production of these shirts. Starting this fall, the shirts will be available for purchase on Hogan's website and will also be for sale in retail shops world wide. In anticipation of the t-shirt launch, I wanted to show off some of the designs that I have been working on with Hogan's help. Keep in mind that most of this is unfinished work and will not be completed until next month. It has been a great experience working with one of my life-long idols and it feels amazing to leave my mark on Hulkamania. Enjoy BROTHER!

This is a caricature of Andy Whitfield, the actor that used to portray Spartacus in the series Spartacus:Blood and Sand. After watching the entirety of the series this past week, I felt compelled to draw this fierce warrior!

Who should I draw?

I've been having a hard time thinking of new comic characters to draw, so I'm leaving it up to my friends on Facebook. Two of the suggestions were Swamp Thing and The Silver Surfer. I'm really enjoying taking new chances on characters that I have never drawn. These will definitely be the first of many new drawings!
